Group workshops for anyone interested in beginning to connect or more deeply connect with the sensory language of their body. For stabilisation, rest, vitality and resilience from burnout and overwhelm. Offered as an introductory session with follow-on course of eight, two hour workshops. Also offered in short, responsive sessions outside of regular workshop spaces.
Coming to our Senses and Recovering Connection will invite explorations to notice your sensations as you do very simple everyday activities like walking, sitting, standing, and working with simple objects.
We will work with key questions such as, ‘What sensations can I feel in my body? What is this body noticing?’ This inquiry into the ACTUAL sensations may lead to a felt sense of dropping, lifting, or perhaps space around the sensation.
We will gently challenge the commonly-held belief that some feelings are ‘good’ and others are ‘bad’ and to be avoided. By suspending those labels, we come to an openness in our availability to feel a sensation. You may feel, for example, that you want to stay briefly with the sensations of heaviness that we often term ‘sadness’.
Waves of gratitude may arise as we spontaneously stabilise our experience by becoming aware of both pleasant and neutral sensations. Many people report that having worked with these practices, they ‘feel safe’ and ‘less afraid’. Releasing fear and the bodily experiences of fight and flight means that this energy is now available for other things.
