Touching Earth: Tuning-in to the Movement of Life

“I touch the earth and the earth touches me”. If each human could deeply feel such knowledge the world would be a place richer and more full of love.     Participant

You are invited to these pioneering workshops where you tune-in to the movement of life itself as it courses through you. Feeling your innate resonant connection with all life as a dynamic felt-presence in your soma (living body).

You will have the space and time to work at your own pace through very simple and accessible practices.

The felt-sense of kinship with all life.

Exploring the resonant language of light, movement and form.

Through accessible explorations in sensory receptive awareness, resonant connection and creative expressions. In fluid togetherness with the wider natural world.

‘Touching Earth’ connects ‘you’ more fully to the ground that holds you and this felt-trust-of-deep-safety supports your health and wellness during these times of great challenge.

This invitation is on the fresh edge of eco-somatic awareness > an evolution of consciousness.

* To say ‘your’ isn’t quite right …

‘Once you come into this literal body here, then you find a space that is much bigger
than your literal body. It is quite clear that it is not exactly your literal body, but that is
where the entrance is.’ Eugene Gendlin

Cost/Gifting: £15 guide ‘gift’ price – contact Jenny to ‘gift’ more and less

I am exploring living in the gift so the amount you give is up to you, perhaps taking into account (a) your sense of gratitude with what you receive from the event, (b) how much you might pay elsewhere for something similar, (c) what you can afford, and (d) your desire to support this work in the world.

(I ask for a £15 deposit to reserve your space at the point of booking. The idea is that your initial payment is a token of commitment to reserve your place and you will be invited to pay more (or less) taking the above into consideration.)

Contact Improvisation Dance – In Contact With the Movement of Life

Contact Jams are open gatherings where people get together to practice contact improvisation. The Contact Jams will have no central instructor or guide. There will however be a number of experienced CI practitioners keeping a watchful eye over the jam.

Without someone leading you into what to do you are left up to your own devices and curiosities. What makes it a contact jam is a common curiosity in the investigation of contact improvisation.

A jam is often more than two hours in duration so it is up to you how you spend that time e.g. a number of short dances with different people, dancing ‘in contact’ and ‘out of physical contact’ with other dancers for periods of time, a long dance of thirty minutes with one partner, dancing in a group of three or more, sitting at the edge of the room and watching for a while, having a quiet chat with someone you just happen to sit down next to, having a nap.

Class and Jam and Tea Afterwards follows a format laid down by London Contact Improvisation … a strong lineage!!

What I love about this format are: there’s lots of input in the class to develop your movement palette, followed by a sense of togetherness at the jam – akin to the extended family gathering where you can easily merge into the carpet with the apple pips, finished off with an invitation to go out for tea and food afterwards.

Here is a clip of a jam … you can see folk sitting out and watching and sometimes dancing in bigger groups. These folks have clearly been dancing CI for a few months https://youtu.be/QdKZlryJ4HY?si=TI788CtaOtwQo1Oi

What to bring: Comfortable clothing, drink bottle, nibble, water available. Eat a little before you come.

Other Details: All of  you in the community of dancers are invited to come along to a cafe together afterwards.

Enjoyment

‘This is the best experience. I love it’ (S)

‘I can’t say how fantastic this is. It is beyond fascinating’ (B)

‘Apart from being with my children this is my very favourite part of the week’ (J)

Feeling of Body Connection

‘I’m starting to connect to my body for the first time’ (G)

Embodied Visioning

‘The clarity of the visual and gesture that came from Embodied Visioning  is still of great value to me now, a year later –  I have fully embodied it – it has become part of me and has walked me forward into so much newness in my life’ (Sarah N D)

Understanding the Body-Mind Connection

‘I’m coming to understand that the mind and body don’t function in isolation but in tandem – each informs the other, they are in constant communication’ (H)

‘I learn more about my whole self. I value this time – I’ve denied myself body time. I’m realising that for years I have ignored my body and my mind’s ability to work with it. I am grateful, in no state of need and full of positive expectation’ (J)

Understanding Me Just As I Am

‘Jenny has done more to help me understand and unlock the depths, subtleties and aliveness of my body, through our body work and somatic sessions, than any other practitioner I’ve ever worked with.

Jenny’s humanity and deep commitment to understanding me just as I am in that very moment, comes through every time we work together.

Jenny’s breadth of life experience, skills and talents means she can move in an instant in almost any direction with ease, spontaneity, creativity and presence’ (abie)

Healing Shock by Bringing Past and Present Together

‘Jenny has a unique way of connecting people to what deeply matters to them. I could feel the hurt in my body, name it and locate that with the confusion in my mind. I could link what was happening in the present to what had happened in the past.

It put something back into my hands because I had connected to the source of it and got some level of balance again.

I had a desperate need to understand and this unique approach brought me into the zone so that I could safely explore the magnitude of what had happened. I could manage the hurt because I knew what it was.

This is a unique way of helping me to make sense of a difficult situation’ (L)

Body as a Source of Relief

‘I felt so safe’ (S)

‘I realised how much more of me there is, unconsciously giving me relief, versus the part of me identifying with the addiction’ (JE)

‘When the word REST was said, in relation to my knee: the restriction I had placed on my body to be well was released, multiple muscle sets released and the body suddenly felt more at peace with itself.

It just hadn’t occurred to me before, as a real tangible option, that I and my knee could have a direct communication as a way of healing. Over time my knee became my friend as I could recognise when I was pushing it and myself too hard or when my body was up for challenging itself more.

This placed the whole recovery process firmly back into mine and my body’s hands. The results were a fast rate of recovery which I hadn’t found through physiotherapy and pain relief medication’ (Re)
